What is Shingles (Herpes Zoster) ?
Shingles is a painful skin rash caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus in the body.
Common Symptoms
- Pain or tingling
- Red rash on one side of the body
- Blisters
Exclusion Criteria - Who is this Service not suitable for ?
- People wth a rash on the face or eyes
- People who are experiencing severe pain
- People who are pregnant
- Individuals aged less than 18 years
If you are feeling generally unwell or have symptoms that could indicate sepsis, seek urgent medical care from your GP or your nearest Emergency Department.
What Happens Next ?
To allow the pharmacist to determine whether you are suitable for treatment under the Common Conditions Service, you will need to provide some additional information. Please follow the instructions provided to submit your details.
Once your information has been received, the pharmacist will review it and contact you by phone. Depending on the details you provide, the pharmacist may: arrange an in-person consultation at the pharmacy, offer advice and treatment, or refer you to another appropriate healthcare professional if this service is not suitable for you.
