What Is a Cold Sore (Herpes Labialis) ?
Cold sores are small, painful blisters that typically appear around the lips or mouth.
Common Symptoms
- Tingling or burning sensation
- Fluid-filled blisters
- Crusting or scabbing sores

Exclusion Criteria - Who is this Service not suitable for ?
- People who have similar symptoms around the eyes
- People who have cold sore(s) that are spreading quickly
- People who are feeling generally unwell
- Individuals aged less than 1 month
If you are feeling generally unwell or have symptoms that could indicate sepsis, seek urgent medical care from your GP or your nearest Emergency Department.
What Happens Next ?
To allow the pharmacist to determine whether you are suitable for treatment under the Common Conditions Service, you will need to provide some additional information. Please follow the instructions provided to submit your details.
Once your information has been received, the pharmacist will review it and contact you by phone. Depending on the details you provide, the pharmacist may: arrange an in-person consultation at the pharmacy, offer advice and treatment, or refer you to another appropriate healthcare professional if this service is not suitable for you.
