You can now pre-register your interest in upcoming Vaccines at Cobh Pharmacy.
This includes Flu, Covid and/or Shingles Vaccines.
Once these vaccines are received, we will prioritise those patients on this list.

Flu Vaccine
The Flu Vaccine is available seasonally at Cobh Pharmacy.
The flu vaccine is safe and effective. It helps to protect you from flu. The best time to get the flu vaccine is before the flu season starts. It's available from the end of September to April each year.
For adults, the flu vaccine is given as an injection into your arm.
Children get the flu vaccine as a spray into their nose (nasal spray).
After the vaccine, you may have some mild side effects. These may include: soreness, redness or swelling where you got the injection, fever (high temperature - 38 degrees Celsius or above), mild sweating and shivering, headaches, aches, and feeling tired. If you have any of these side effects, rest and take paracetamol.

COVID-19 Vaccine - Booster Dose
COVID-19 vaccines give protection against the serious complications of COVID-19 infection. But the protection from previous vaccination weakens over time.
A COVID-19 booster dose helps to boost your immune system. It gives you the best protection available to stop you from becoming seriously ill or needing to go to hospital if you get COVID-19.
We offer seasonal COVID-19 booster vaccines in spring and autumn each year. Boosters are recommended for people who are most at risk of severe illness from COVID-19.
The next seasonal booster vaccines will be offered in autumn. We will update this page with more information closer to that time.
Shingles Vaccine
We are now offering the shingles vaccine here at Cobh Pharmacy.
Two doses of the vaccine provide strong protection against shingles and postherpetic neuralgia, also known as nerve pain, the most common complication of shingles.
In adults 50 to 69 years old with healthy immune systems, Shingrix was 97% effective in preventing shingles; in adults 70 years and older, Shingrix was 91% effective.
Unfortunately, the vaccine is not available through the medical card or drug payment schemes. Following a consultation with one of our pharmacists we can provide the vaccine here in the pharmacy without the need for you to visit your GP or obtain a prescription.
The vaccine consists of two doses (240€ per dose) administered ideally two months apart.
Following dose one, our pharmacist will provide you with an information leaflet for the vaccine as well as your vaccination card. They will then call you before your second dose to arrange your final appointment.

Pneumonia Vaccine
We are now offering the pneumonia vaccine here at Cobh Pharmacy.
One dose of the vaccine provide strong protection against pneumonia as well as its complications.
Pneumonia is an infection that inflames your lungs. The lungs fill with fluid, leading to fever and trouble breathing. Pneumonia vaccination is recommended for those aged 65 years and older, or those aged 2 years plus who are at an increased risk of infection.
Following a consultation with one of our pharmacists we can provide the vaccine here in the pharmacy without the need for you to visit your GP or obtain a prescription.
The vaccine consists of one dose (49.95€ per dose) administered into the upper arm.
Following your vaccination, our pharmacist will provide you with an information leaflet for the vaccine as well as your vaccination card.
